    "OneNote

    (The Game Changer)

OneNote and OneNote Class Notebook are the game changers you’ve been waiting for!  In addition, there is a new application called Teams that combines workplace chat, meetings, notes, a planner, the ability to pin custom apps and OneNote. OneNote and OneNote Class Notebook are electronic versions of a paper notebook. Together they provide a truly engaging interactive learning environment.

Morning Session 9:00-11:30: This Professional Development opportunity is being led by a team of experienced K-12 teachers with firsthand OneNote and Teams experience. They will teach the basic skills on how to navigate OneNote and Teams as they showcase the engaging digital opportunities that they provide.

Afternoon Session 12:30-3:00: This will be a Curriculum Building Workshop to provide instruction and support. This will allow participants to bring in their own curriculum materials and spend the afternoon integrated these materials into OneNote.

OneNote is a note-taking and personal information management application for collecting, organizing and sharing digital information.  It is filled with tools for storing text, notes, photos, audio and video snippets, handwriting and similar content. OneNote collects and organizes the information making it available for searching as well as sharing with others.

Class Notebook takes the power of digital media to a whole new level!  It will become the catalyst to convert your entire curriculum. The Class Notebook allows for "Read Only Teacher Content", "Collaboration Work Space" and a teacher accessible "Student Notebook", one for each student. The Class Notebook also contains "Learning Tools" to help support grammar and text to speech accommodations.

OneNote is available for Apple's iPhone and iPad, and Android portable devices.

    Rhode Island Technology Road Show

Using Technology effectively to meet the needs of English Language
    Learners
and Special Education students, using your own device!

Rhode Island Technology Road Show Sessions Include the Following:

Learning and Accessibility tools for students struggling with Reading, Writing, English Language Arts and Special Education Students

In the United States alone, 73% of classrooms have readers that span 4 or more grades, 72% have students with specialized learning needs, and 52% of classroom with students new to the country and still learning the language. There are tools that make it easier to see, hear, and improve student outcomes by making the computer easier to use.  ThemeUniversal Design for Learning (Accessibility): Meeting the needs of our diverse learners in an inclusive classroom.

    ·         Teachers: adaptation tools at their fingertips that don’t require extra funding and can be implemented immediately.

    ·         Students: independence, less attention focused on their disability, and no delay in getting the materials they need that oftentimes interrupts their learning.

Using SWAY, and Online Tools for Problem Solving,
    Communication, Critical Thinking and Collaboration

Collaboration skills ranks high on the lists of 21st Century requirements in schools and business. Collaboration used to mean sharing hand-written notes and phone calls at specific times. With these tools, however, collaboration can happen across schools, at any time - in real time, and with no need to pass around paper copies of materials. Theme: Single hub for collaboration and creation.

Session Theme: Single hub for collaboration and creation.

Rhode Island Technology Road Show: Part Two:

Continuing to meet the needs of English Language

    Learners and Special Education Students

Session Description: Grading help – teachers spend a lot of time grading papers for ELL and other sub populations of students.   This session will help you learn how to digitally create quizzes, send them out to your students, and get instant data analytics that you can share with your grade team, content team, or administrators.

This can be a powerful tool for formative assessments to check for understanding after a lesson or can be used for summative assessments. This session will also focus on capturing ideas digitally – come learn how to use Sway to help students capture ideas instead of spending time on formatting.

This tool will do all the graphics and animation, letting your students spend the majority of the time exploring thoughts and immersing themselves in content.

In addition the session will also build off of all the Learning and Accessibility tools in session 1, and also incorporate inking capabilities for maximizing instruction, teaching and learning for English Language Learners and Special Education students
