Scheduling professional development tools

RISTE uses our member management system "Wild Apricot" to schedule our events and manage the registration.  A number of schools have asked about what platform or software to use to set up and manage registration for their professional development days.  Would like to be able to include a general registration and then choices for a variety of sessions so each staff member can personalize their day and choose sessions that fit their needs.  Some of the sessions would need limits on the number of participants because of content or space constraints.

Appreciate any and all recommendations with some links if possible.

    thanks all.....johnb

I've been using SignUpGenius for the last three years. I use the free version but the premium version gives you more options and analytics. It has templates you can use but I always customize it to fit our day. Our back-to-school conference has about 575 teachers, staff, and admins. We run three 75-minute sessions. Each session has about 15-20 workshop choices. You set the number of people per workshop and it will close it out once capacity is reached. People can sign up without creating an account, but if they want to edit their choices they'll need one.

A word to the wise...make the participant names visible so when they email you to say they don't remember what they signed up for you can refer them back to the SignUpGenius page and they can look for their own names. Also, take advantage of the option to have it send them an email reminder a day or two before the event.

I'm happy to answer any questions you may have.

    John:

Most SIS applications also have a tool for PD. Aspen has a pretty robust PD tool that is easy to implement. We use it in our district to schedule PD opportunities where people need to sign up for a course.
