Title: Technical Support Specialist
Department: Technology
Reports to: Director of Technology
Job Level/Salary Grade: TBD
Purpose/Objective: Provide support of multi-user operating systems, hardware and software tools, including installation, configuration, maintenance, and support of these systems. Perform other duties as required by the Technology Department
Major Responsibilities:
- Install, configure, troubleshoot, maintain, and upgrade operating systems, hardware & software interfaces and peripherals.
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and connectivity problems, including user access and component configuration. Document system problems and resolutions for future reference. Select among authorized procedures and seek assistance when guidelines are inadequate, significant deviations are proposed, or when unanticipated problems arise. Create new procedures as is necessary.
- Assist in maintaining assigned key systems.
- Assist with hardware and software inventories/audits.
- Assist with printer fleet management
- Provide on-the-job training to new department staff members. Provide computer orientation to new faculty & staff. Provide ongoing training as required to existing staff and faculty. Assist students as appropriate.
- Work as a team member with other technical staff to ensure a high level of service and support.
- Write and maintain system documentation.

Scope: The Technical Support Specialist responsibilities encompass the entire School including all Divisions and Departments. Responsibilities may require evening and weekend work in response to needs of the technology systems being supported.
Working Relationships/Contacts: The System Analyst is expected to professionally and successfully interact with Students, Faculty, Staff, Parents, Alumni, Volunteers, and Vendors.
Requirements:
Education: Bachelor’s Degree
Experience: 1-2 years of related experience
Skills, Knowledge or Competencies:
· Knowledge of school supported hardware, software, and operating systems to include configuration and connectivity.
· Ability to investigate and analyze information and to draw conclusions.
· Ability to plan, test, implement, and troubleshoot hardware & system software. Ability to determine computer problems and to coordinate solutions.
· Ability to communicate technical guidance and instruction to users on the use of hardware, applications, and systems. Ability to write technical instructions.
· Records maintenance skills.
· Ability to learn and support new hardware, software and operating systems.
· Use interpersonal skills to work with a variety of constituencies.
· Knowledge of computer security procedures and protocol. Maintain confidentiality with regard to the information being processed, stored or accessed.
