1:1 Anti Virus

We are locking into MS Surfaces for our 1:1 roll out and was wondering what everyone is doing about the anti virus program. We currently have Symantec and adding the 1:1 devices is a big nut! The built in Windows Defender is a joke. I need to control this to make sure all devices are compliant.

    Thx.

I moved from Symantec to ESET last summer - it is much more manageable and a smaller install on the clients.  It was a simple installation, very quick to deploy and the interface is much more intuitive.

We use avast for education, it's free for schools "forever" and it's the endpoint suite that can be centrally managed (for the most part).  You can pay for support, but we don't.  Not sure how much it catches/how many resources it hogs, but it makes me feel better knowing it's on there.

I was looking into AVG and Panda. Both have good write ups. I will check out Avast. I looked at RISTE's ESET, but price is still an issue when going 1:1.

    Thx for your inputs.

Stan, we are using AVG on our networks and I recommend students to install it on their personal computers...  we have had good results with AVG.  You should also install AVG on the computers so that you can have your network 'push' the updates... that way the students don't need to do it or worry about up to date anti-virus.

I have used AVG before and it did work. I don't know anything about Panda but it got a good write up. Stick with what you know, right?

    Thx.
