Just out of curiosity, I'm trying to get an idea on what other school's ratio is for desktops to IT staff. Or any other ratio data you would like to share with me, i.e., users to IT Staff, etc.

    Thx,

At St. Andrew's School it's just me and an NEIT intern 20 hrs a week.  We have

    ~300 PCs/Laptops

    ~50 Copiers/Printers

    ~230 Kids and 75 Faculty/staff

Foster-Glocester is 1000 computers with one dedicated computer tech.  Not a typo.

How do you keep up managing 1000 computers by yourself?

    Matt,

Are you paying the intern a stipend ?

    Stan,

I was doing 200/week for around 20 hrs.  He just graduated and is leaving me in a few week's so I've posted something else at NEIT, but no bites yet.

    Thx.

I thought for sure you would get many applicants from NEIT...guess not. The last thing I want to do is advertise.

Students just started the new semester this/last week, hopefully they'll make their way to career services sooner than later.

In North Smithfield our PC Technician to Desktop Ratio is close to 1 to 1000.

In my experience most public school system have a ratio that is similar.  In the private companies and colleges that I have worked the ratio is closer to 1 to 100.  It is troubling to me to see technology directors and tech staff in public schools putting in long hours to compensate.  I wish that school committee's across the state and other hiring bodies would take this into consideration when crafting their budgets.
