Office 365 Rollout

After spending a lot of time looking into cloud-based solutions, Foster-Glocester has decided to go with Office 365.  I'm fairly pleased on how well Microsoft has "pulled up their bootstraps" so to speak, and made 365 into a viable product.

I'm interested in sharing our experiences, as well as learning everything I can from others that are going with Office 365.  Let's discuss in this forum or over a refreshment.

    Marc,

We use O365. Moved off our in house Exchange and moved student files/documents off our file server and into the cloud. Exchange was a bitc4 due to a melt down of the server and the restore didn't work. All e-mails were lost. Started fresh on O365. I wasn't very popular. LOL

We can take this offline if you have specific questions.

    Thx.

We went to Office 365 last year as well and the only gripes I really have about it is the confusion the "OneDrive for Business" causes students/users (leave it to Microsoft to have TWO of something and name them both ONEdrive).  We still have on premise file servers and the back and forth is a bit confusing for students and Syncing has been less than reliable (it's really just SharePoint MySites online).

Also most Apps don't have functionality to set up OneDrive for Business as a location to save things to. We've been thinking about moving away from it and trying something different entirely (either WebDAV access to our internal file stores or Dropbox).

The migration wasn't horrible.  We had Secure Futures Tech help us with it and it was reasonable with little downtime.

I think the better term for O365 is 'clunky'

    That's what I said.  "SharePoint".
