Loftus, President & CEO of OSHEAN, shared with us the exciting news that K-12 schools across the state will be part of the soon to be built Beacon 2 fiber network. OSHEAN has been awarded a $21.7M Broadband Technology Opportunities Program (BTOP) grant as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. This new fiber network will bring 1 GB (with available upgrades to 10 GB ) connections to our schools at very reasonable rates. The project must be completed in a relatively short time and OSHEAN is working with RINET and the fiber vendor to make it happen. Pam Christman from RINET will be contacting schools and districts to begin planning the connections. | Recent Announcements
